| The following will provide you
with vital information on Girl Scout training:
What
kind of training is required to be a leader?
Each Girl Scout Troop/Group must have at least one registered
and trained adult who assumes primary responsibility for that troop/group.
That trained adult must be one of the 2 required adults at all troop/group
meetings. In addition, there must always be at least 2 adults present. It is recommended that all co-leaders, assistant leaders and adults working closely with the troop be fully trained.
Required training for those leading a troop/group
consist of the following three core courses and must be taken in
order. All three courses are available in both classroom and online
e-Learning.
Step 1 - Getting
Started (formerly Orientation) taken prior to the troop/group's
first meeting.
Step 2 - New
Leader Basics Training (formerly Basic Leader) needs
to be completed within four months after Getting Started.
Step 3 - Program
Level Training (needs to be completed within four months after
Getting Started (classroom, home study and online
e-Learning for all but Cadette/Senior level).
In addition, at least one member of the troop
leadership team is required to participate in First
Aid and CPR Training, and become recertified
as needed.
