Council's Own IPP's
Older girls can participate in "Interest
Projects" toward earning their Silver and Gold Awards. These resources
are unique to our own Council and are often developed by Senior
Girl Scouts working on their Gold Award projects. These patches
are worn on the front of the uniform. Information on these and other
resources and activities are available at the Front Desk at the
Council (GSSCC) office. You have permission to download and reproduce
these materials if you are a Girl Scout member and using it expressly
for Girl Scout purposes.
Adventures
Abroad Interest Project: Become a traveler. Before you leave,
find out what you need to do to prepare for your trip. Study the
country and learn helpful behavior and customs of the country so
you can appreciate the differences among people of the world. Be
an ambassador and explore new places, new foods, new cultures.

Aviation Interest Project & Resources: Aviation describes
a huge field of activity ranging from people flying ultra-light
airplanes for fun, to 747’s flying with international airlines and
military operations all over the world. This project invites you
to explore the subject in as much detail as you like.
Global Politics Interest Project: Politics affects our every
day lives, from the clothes we wear to the food we eat. Have you
ever stopped to consider what the United States would be like if
it did not trade or communicate with other nations? What would the
world be like without the United Nations to help solve global problems?
This project aims to increase your understanding of the world around
us.

Public Speaking Interest Project & Evaluation: To clearly
express your thoughts to others so that they are understood is an
important tool if you are to become successful in life. This interest
project will help you develop and/or sharpen your skills to speak
and communicate effectively.
Renaissance
Days Interest Project & Resources: The Renaissance era in
Europe was one of the most fascinating times in human history. This
period is generally the 14th to 16th Century. Many famous writers,
painters and royal families lived during this time period. If you
wondered what it would be like to live in the times of "Robin Hood"
and "Romeo and Juliette", you will enjoy learning all about the
people who lived in Renaissance Times.
Robotics
Interest Project: The term robotics covers a large field
of study ranging from microchips in automatic coffee makers and
automobile engines to robots that carry information or materials
in the hallways of hospitals to personal satellite assistants on
the space station to the Mars rover to fully autonomous rovers that
can complete a given task without instructions from humans. This
interest project will help you explore the astonishing world of
robotics.
Rock
Climbing Interest Project: The Rock Climbing Interest Project
will help you learn all aspects of how to climb safely in a gym.
You will learn basic climbing skills, climbing safety, including
safety commands, how to tie proper climbing knots, and proper belaying
techniques. Climbing is unique in that it combines technique, grace,
balance, flexibility, strength and concentration. It is a sport
where girls have their own natural advantages. It challenges more
than just the body, it requires problem-solving skills, concentration
and focus.
Interactive Patch Program
- Women
Worldwide Interest Patch Project: The Women Worldwide
Interest Patch is a special interest project that is interactive,
and can only be found online. Through this Interest Patch, you
will learn about the challenges facing women and girls around
the world, and how they are using their energy and creativity
to improve their lives. Most importantly, you'll learn how you
can help them! This patch was developed in partnership with Youth
Philanthropy Worldwide, now "New Global Citizens."
National Interest Projects
- American
Patriotism: America is a unique place to live and work.
It offers many freedoms, and each one comes with responsibilities.
Girl Scouts 11-17 can find out what those freedoms and responsibilities
are by doing this Interest Project.
- Computers
in Everyday Life: The first computers were so large that
they would not have fit into your house and were certainly not
available to the average person. Nowadays computers fit on your
desk, in your bookbag, or in the palm of your hand. They can be
found at school, in libraries, and at most places of work and
play. This project will introduce you to everyday functions of
using the family PC as well as computers at school, at work, and
in the community.
- Exploring
the Net: Visiting an art museum, finding out about what
plants grow best in your part of the country, investigating a
career, shopping for custom-made jeans, reading a movie review,
or chatting with a friend half a world away - these are just a
few possibilities open to you when you explore the infinite Internet.
Surely Juliette Gordon Low would have been one of the first to
have her own home page.
