Earning Cookie Credit and How to Use It

Cookie Credit is a credit amount a girl has the opportunity to earn through participation in product sale programs. Cookie Credit is designed to expand a girl's Girl Scout experience beyond her weekly troop meetings.

What can Cookie Credit be used for?
Cookie Credit can be used toward fees for Girl Scouts of Northern California or Service Unit Day Camp organized by local volunteers. It can also be used toward fees at any Girl Scouts of Northern California Resident Camp. Cookie Credit cannot be used for Service Unit events, programs or camporee or for programs, events or camps run by other Councils unless it is a resident camp listed in the annual camp brochure.

Who is Cookie Credit issued to and when does it expire?
Cookie Credit is issued in May of each year and expires 2 years (in May) from the date issued. Certificates are provided but if lost, the information is also on file in the Council Office. Event Credit is earned by the individual girl and is only issued to the girl that earned it. Cookie Credit is not issued to the troop. However, Cookie Credit is transferable to another girl with the issuing girl's parent written permission. If a girl with her parent written permission chooses to share the Cookie Credit with other girls in the troop, arrangements can be made. The issuing girl's parent must provide a written, dated and signed letter stating their permission and who the girls are that can use it and the dollar amount. The letter must be submitted with any program, event or camp registration form.

How to redeem Cookie Credit
Girl Carrying CookiesWhen you are registering your daughter for an event, program or camp, you will find a space on the registration form for Event Credit. If you know the certificate number, fill in that number and the dollar amount you want to use and subtract it from the fee. If you do not have a number, simply write in the dollar amount you believe your daughter has on file. Deduct the dollar amount from the fee and pay any difference. Council will process your request for Cookie Credit usage and will contact you if there are any questions. Please note that Cookie Credits cannot be processed through online registrations. Cookie Credits must be submitted via mail or fax.

How to find out the dollar amount on file for a specific girl?
Council keeps records on file for 2 years. Call 408 287-4170 or 650 968-8396 x267 for the latest information available.
