Most positions and camps require that you are available for the entire season. Below you will find the general employment dates for each of our camps. Depending on the position, season length may vary, so please contact us if you have questions. Resident Camp Positions

Administration

Assistant Camp Director ($70-$80/day; Min. age 23 yrs.) Oversee development and implementation of camp programs. Assist the Camp Director with management of camp operations. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Supervisory, administrative and organized camp experience required. Valid driver's license and clean DMV record required. Position is available at all resident camps.

Program Manager ($60-$64/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Oversee management of program specialty areas, and supervise program staff. Assist with camp operations and all camp events. Supervisory and camp program development experience needed. Valid driver's license and clean DMV record required. Position is available at all resident camps.

Unit Manager ($60-$64/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Oversee development and delivery of unit programs. Supervise unit staff. Assist with camp operations. Supervisory and camp program development experience needed. Valid driver's license and clean DMV record required. Position is available at all resident camps.

Operations Manager ($60-$64/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Manage business and administrative operations of camp, including financial records, purchasing, transportation, and other logistics. Experience in basic business procedures and good organizational skills needed. Valid driver's license and clean DMV record required. Preferred qualifications include: Knowledge of organized camp and Advanced First Aid/CPR (Level II), EMT, or Wilderness First Aid. Position is available at all resident camps.

Camp Director ($100-$130 / day; Min. age 25 yrs.) Responsible for planning and presenting a staff orientation and in-service training that meets the needs and interests of staff members and is consistent with the goals and objectives of the camp program. Oversee development and implementation of camp programs. Responsible for management of camp operations. Supervise and evaluate designated staff members and areas. Submit a Camp Director report at the end of the season.Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Supervisory, administrative and organized camp experience required. Health Services

Health Supervisor ($90-$100/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Oversee wellness and safety of campers and staff. Manage all health center operations. California license as MD, PA, NP, RN, EMT or Level II First Aid certificate required. Red Cross First Aid and CPR training also required. Position is available at all Resident Camps.

Health Assistant ($70-$80/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Assist in health operations and support overall camp program. California license as MD, RN, EMT or Level II First Aid certificate. Red Cross First Aid and CPR training also required. Position is available at Skylark Ranch only.

Program & Unit Staff

Leadership Team Director ($50-$54/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Manage a leadership team and deliver an established leadership and Counselor-In-Training program to girls in 9th-12th grade. Leadership, supervisory and outdoor skills required. Program development experience/ knowledge of Girl Scout program needed. At Skylark Ranch, serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team with Ad-Staff. Position is available at Deer Lake, Skylark Ranch and Sugar Pine.

Unit Leader ($50-$54/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Manage the operations of a camp unit and oversee the health and well-being of campers. Implement a unit program within established guidelines. Supervise Unit Counselors. Group leadership, youth work experience, supervisory, program development skills needed. Valid driver's license and clean DMV record preferred. Position is available at all resident camps. Position is available at all Resident Camps.

Unit Counselor ($46-$50/day; Min. age 18 yrs.) Assist with managing the operations of a camp unit and with implementing the unit program. Supervise the health and well-being of campers. Camp, leadership and youth work experience desired. Position is available at all resident camps. Position is available at all Resident Camps.

  • Unit Counselor- Lifeguard: All resident camps
    Work primarily in the units, but cover waterfront/lifeguard duties on out trips or at in camp pools/lakes. Must have certification as a lifeguard with waterfront/open water module.

  • Unit Counselor- Horse Emphasis: Skylark Ranch & Sugar Pine
    Experience and enthusiasm for horses to work primarily in horse programs.

  • Unit Counselor- Drama Emphasis: Bothin
    Experience and enthusiasm for drama, dance, costumes, sets to work primarily in performing arts programs.

  • Unit Counselor- Cooking Emphasis: Bothin
    Experience and enthusiasm for cooking to work primarily in culinary programs.

Adventure Counselor ($48-$52/day; Min. age 19 yrs.) Serve as a Unit Leader or Unit Counselor in the specialty adventure programs. Extensive skills and experience in one or more adventure program areas such as, snorkeling, scuba, kayaking, surfing, lifeguarding, windsurfing, rock climbing, wilderness/survival camping, back packing, extended road trips, etc. At Deer Lake, lead speciality Adventure by Choice programs. Position is available at Deer Lake and Skylark Ranch.

Waterfront Director ($56-$60/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Responsible for the development and implementation of the waterfront program. Experienced in teaching, and working with children. Holds current certification as WSI, Lifeguard with open water module. Experience working with a boating program. Supervises waterfront staff team. Position is available at Deer Lake and Sugar Pine only.

Lifeguard ($50-$54/day; Min. age 18 yrs.) Assist with waterfront operations and aquatic programs. Current Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer required. Previous lifeguard experience preferred. *Some camps are Unit Counselor / Lifeguard positions. Position is available at all Resident Camps.

High Ropes Director ($56-$60/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Oversee the high ropes program including leading activities, maintenance of equipment, supervision of staff assistants. Certification or documented training on high ropes program needed. Previous experience teaching and managing a high ropes program required. First Aid and CPR training or willingness to obtain. Position is available at all Resident Camps.

Program Specialist ($48-$52/day; Min. age 19 yrs.) Develop and implement a comprehensive program within a specialty area. Demonstrated skill in program development and extensive knowledge and experience related to the program area needed. All positions will also assist with unit programming and all camp events. The following positions are available at the following camps:

  • Art Specialist: Position is available at all Resident Camps
    Develop and implement a comprehensive art program. Should have extensive experience planning an art program and be able to support unit program within established guidelines. Fine art experience preferred.

  • Drama Specialist: Position is available at Bothin
    Develop and implement a comprehensive performing arts program. Should have extensive experience with play production and a variety of other forms of performance. Must be able to support unit program within established guidelines.

  • Nature/Environmental Specialist: Position is available at all Resident Camps.
    Plan and implement the nature program. Provide resource materials and support for the unit staff. (At Skylark Ranch, this position also oversees the llama program).

  • Archery Specialist: Position is available at all Resident Camps
    Daily delivery of archery program with specialized programs at Skylark Ranch and Sugar Pine. Experience with Field Archery a plus. Level 1 certification required. First Aid and CPR training or willingness to obtain.

  • Challenge Course Specialist: Position is available at Skylark Ranch only.
    Daily delivery of adventure challenge and teambuilding activities. Experience with low ropes course and group development needed. First Aid and CPR training or willingness to obtain.

  • Assistant Ropes Specialist: Position is available at Deer Lake and Sugar Pine only.
    Assist with program on the High Ropes course, Adventure Tower or Rock Climbing wall. Experience as a belayer and certification or documented training on high ropes program needed.

  • Windsurfing Specialist: Position is available at Deer Lake only.
    Responsible for teaching, organizing classes and the maintenance of equipment. Strong windsurfing background needed. Current Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer preferred. $50-$54/day.

Equestrian Program

Equestrian Director ($70-$80/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Implement a comprehensive equestrian program that includes Western and English riding and vaulting. Oversee care of horses and equipment. Supervise equestrian staff. Experience teaching Western and/or English riding needed. Previous management or supervisory experience at a horseback riding facility required. Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team with Ad-Staff. First Aid and CPR training or willingness to obtain. Position is available at Skylark Ranch only.

Assistant Equestrian Director ($56-$60/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Assist in implementing a comprehensive horseback riding program and in caring for horses and equipment. Previous management or supervisory experience at a horseback riding facility desired. Ability to teach Western and/or English riding required. First Aid & CPR training or willingness to obtain. Position is available at Skylark Ranch only.

Riding or Valuting Specialist ($50-$54/day; Min. age 18 yrs.) Assist in implementing a riding program, including teaching Western and/or English riding or vaulting. Extensive horseback riding experience and teaching skills needed. First Aid & CPR training or willingness to obtain. Riding Specialist position is available at Skylark Ranch and Sugar Pine. Vaulting Specialist position is available at Skylark Ranch only.

Riding Director ($60-$64/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Certification or documented experience in horseback riding and instruction. Responsible for development and implementation of the western riding program. First Aid & CPR training or willingness to obtain. Oversees health care & feeding of horses. Previous management or supervisory experience at a horseback riding facility required. Position is available at Sugar Pine only.

Assistant Riding Director ($56-$60/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Works with the Riding Director to implement riding program and care for horses. Assists in supervision of the riding staff team. Responsible for the Wrangler-In-Training program. Extensive riding and teaching skills needed. Position is available at Sugar Pine only.

Food Service

Food Service Director ($90-$100/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Oversee management of food service operations, plan and prepare meals. Supervise Kitchen Staff. Experience in quantity cooking, kitchen management and supervision required. Knowledge of government food programs helpful. California State Food Handling Certificate preferred. Position is available at all Resident Camps.

Cook ($70-$80/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Assist in managing food service operations and meal preparation. Knowledge and experience in quantity cooking required. Supervisory skills desired. Position is available at all Resident Camps.

Food Service Assistant ($42-$68/day; Min. age 18 yrs.) Assist with food service operations, meal preparations and packouts. Willingness to carry out kitchen tasks and accept supervision. Position is available at all Resident Camps.

Maintenance

Ranger Assistant ($52-$68/day; Min. age 21 yrs.) Assist Camp Ranger with maintenance of site and facilities. Willingness and ability to carry out physical tasks and accept supervision. Valid Driver’s License required. Position is available at Skylark Ranch and Sugar Pine only.

Day Camp Positions

Camp Metro Day Camp operates June-August, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. The daily shifts for staff members vary with each position, specific programs or session. Typically staff members work approximately 9 hours per day. Note: Some positions (*) require additional pre-camp preparation days.

Day Camp Administration

Assistant Camp Director ($520-$540/week; Min. age 21 yrs.) Work with Camp Director to manage Girl Scout Council day camp. Oversee day to day logistics of camp operations. Assist with the development and implementation of enrichment programs including art, environmental education, sports, and general camp activities. Provide support to the camp operations and unit programs. Good organizational skills and previous administrative experience required. Valid driver's license and clean DMV record needed. Position is available at Camp Metro Day Camp only.

Day Camp Director ($600-$640/week; Min. age 25 yrs.) Program Specialist Art ($420-$440/week; Min. age 19 yrs.) Develop and implement a comprehensive Art program. Should have extensive experience planning an art program and be able to support unit program within established guidelines. Position is available at Camp Metro only.

Program Specialist: Cooking ($420-$440/week; Min. age 19 yrs.) Develop and implement a comprehensive cooking program. Should have extensive experience planning menus and be able to support a cooking program within established guidelines. Position is available at Camp Metro only.

Unit Counselor I ($400-$420/week; Min. age 18 yrs.) Assist with managing the operations of a camper unit and implement unit program within established guidelines. Supervise the health and well-being of campers. Leadership skills and experience working with youth needed. Position is available at Camp Metro only.

Unit Counselor II ($420-$440/week; Min. age 21 yrs.) Assist with managing the operations of a camper unit and implement unit program within established guidelines. Supervise the health and well-being of campers. Leadership skills and experience working with youth needed. Valid driver's license and clean DMV record required. Position is available at Camp Metro only.
