Summer Fun Programs

M.E.!

Grades 6-9 Session 1 Fee $235

Take care of yourself and Mother Earth! Start with a tour of Whole Foods bakery and cheese shops, then head back to camp to experiment and cook with natural and organic foods. Visit a glass fusion studio and a recycling center then create masterpieces out of recycled materials. Plant some trees at Camp Metro to celebrate Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary. Be Forever Green!

Hangin' Out

Grades 6-12 Sessions 1, 3, 5 Fee $310

Hang on for some great summer fun when you grab the ropes and scale the walls with indoor rock climbing and rappelling at City Beach Indoor Climbing Gym. Practice bouldering skills, team challenges, and hanging out with new friends too. Then leap into adventure when you experience the thrill of 400’ zip lines and sky bridges through the canopy of the Redwood Forest near Santa Cruz.

Special Instructions: Note: Campers must weigh between 70 and 250 lbs.

A Girlz Thing

Grades 6-9 Session 3 Fee $250

Spend a day with the girls—your new camp friends that is! Explore the world of fashion and accessorizing and find your own style. Get inspired with one-of-a-kind hair wraps and create your own body glitter. Pamper yourself with natural spa-style treatments, from cucumber masks, fruity foot soaks and homemade bath salts to aromatherapy candles you make. Energize your mornings with yoga and refresh yourself in the afternoons with delicious organic smoothies and snacks. Be Fabulous!

Scuba-Do!

Grades 4-6 Sessions 3, 5 Fee $295

Ever wonder what it’s like to breathe underwater or float effortlessly like an astronaut? Come find out in the exciting underwater pool adventure. Learn the basics of scuba diving during three lessons at a local professional diving school. Back on land, have fun in arts and crafts, play games with your new friends and enjoy other camp activities too!

Special Instructions: Must be able to swim face down in deep water.

The Great Teddy Bear Adventure

Grades K-3 Sessions 2, 5 Fee $235

Are you ready for a little adventure? Start out by making your own Camp Metro Teddy Bear. Then team up with new friends, and of course your bear, and have fun solving clues that will lead you on a new adventure everyday. Maybe your clues will take you to the art pavilion for some creative crafts, or to the stage to learn the “Teddy Bear Tango” or even to the nature room to find out all about real bears. There’s even a special Teddy Bear picnic waiting for you!

Animal Planet

Grades 2-4 Session 5 Fee $245

What’s your favorite animal? Find out how different animals live and play, have fun in art and make wild animal masks and amazing critter collages. Spend a day at Emma Prusch Park hanging out with sheep, pigs, chickens and more. Meet some furry friends from SaveABunny and set out on a special trip to Happy Hollow Zoo. It’s an incredible animal adventure you won’t want to miss!

Dance Around the World

Grades K-3 Sessions 1, 3 Fee $220

Here we go! Explore different types of music and dance from salsa to hip hop, country to pop, and even African dance movement. Try new dances and moves every day along with crafts and games from around the world. Put on a dance carnival and get creative with an international dress up fashion show too!

Ice Dancers

Grades 1-3 Sessions 1, 2 Fee $275
Grades 4-6 Session 3 Fee $275

“Cool off” during those hot summer days by taking ice skating lessons at the Sharks Ice Arena. This program includes lessons and free skate time. Back at camp, join the fun creating dance moves in a chorus line and show off your synchronized dance talents in a routine for the rest of the camp. Enjoy other camp activities too.

InSPAration

Grades 4-6 Session 2 Fee $235

Let out your inner girl power while pampering yourself at camp! Express yourself with a new hairstyle and develop your own brand of homemade facials and sugar scrubs. Create lip gloss and lotion from ecologically-friendly ingredients. Show your own unique style as you accessorize with jewelry that you design.

Fairies Hollow

Grades K-3 Sessions 2, 4 Fee $220

Step into the enchanting world of make-believe when you dress up in costumes and act out a fairytale, have fun with face paint, play with puppets, and make your own fairy wings. Discover the true story of the Camp Metro Mascot, the Poppy Fairy, and have a tea party with all your new friends. All it takes is a little imagination and anything could happen!

Summer Blast

Grades 3-5 Sessions 1, 4 Fee $220

Summer fun at its best and its all here for YOU! Get creative with arts and crafts, play games with new friends, hang out in giant geo-dome club house, and even try a little outdoor cooking. It’s a new and different adventure every day. Campers in this program will also swim two times at a local community swimming pool.

On the Road Again

Grades 6-12 Sessions 2, 4 Fee $290

A new adventure every day when Camp Metro goes on the road! With your camp friends along for the ride, check out fun and interesting spots around the Bay Area. Maybe you’ll visit the glass fusion studio or have a day of fun at the beach. There’s even a Metro-style car rally waiting for you. See where the road takes you when your group chooses some of your own adventures too. Don’t stay home this summer… hit the road with Camp Metro!

My Secret Garden

Grades K-3 Sessions 1, 5 Fee $235

Explore the wonderful world of gardening! Get your hands dirty and discover why worms are so important when you help tend the raised-bed garden at camp. Create a mosaic flower pot, get inspired with pressed flowers, make delicious snacks with organic veggies and fruit and plant an herb garden of your own. Visit Emma Prusch Park to see a community garden and help with recycling and composting at camp.

Urban Adventurer

Grades 4-6 Session 1 Fee $220

Be a wilderness girl in the city as you learn cool new outdoor skills. Try your hand at lashing and work with your fellow adventurers to build a giant geo-dome clubhouse. Discover the secrets of a great outdoor chef, and become an expert fire builder. Learn the lost art of semaphore and send secret messages to your friends across camp. Then grab your map and compass and have fun on an orienteering scavenger hunt in the park. Let your Urban Adventure begin!

Creative Arts Programs

Mona Lisa

Grades 4-6 Session 4 Fee $250

The world of fine arts is waiting for you! Blend different types of art mediums with your own creativity and imagination and see works of art unfold. Express yourself with painting and watercolor, mold clay into sculpture, and weave textiles. Enjoy a special art class at the San Jose Museum of Art too.

Cooking Programs

Icing on the Cake

Grades 6-9 Sessions 2, 5 Fee $260

Cakes, cakes and cupcakes too! Be a pastry chef as you discover the art of cake decorating. Work with fondant, butter cream and gum paste. Create unique cake and filling combinations like cookies and cream or PB & J. Learn piping techniques then get inspired and decorate your own designer cake to enter in the fifth annual Camp Metro cake decorating contest!

Sweet Inspirations

Grades 4-6 Sessions 1, 3 Fee $250

Sugar and spice and everything nice! Make delicious pies, chocolate fondue, creamy, dreamy crème brulee, and even vegan ice cream. Create your own signature cookie and take a trip to Shurras Candy Factory for a behind-the-scenes tour. Learn the fine art of candy making and make some sweet treats for you and your friends.

Cookie Cutters

Grades K-3 Sessions 3, 4 Fee $245

Get creative with edible art, make a recipe book, decorate your own apron, and try your hand at no-bake cooking. Experiment with colors, shapes, patterns, textures, and make fun and tasty treats. Plan a party and share your delicious creations. Join us for a week of incredible edibles that are made outside of the kitchen.

Iron Camp Chef

Grades 6-12 Session 4 Fee $260

The ultimate kitchen experience! Spend time learning the ins and outs of the Camp Metro Kitchen and get your hands on some of our favorite recipes. Use your new skills in daily challenges to create a meal with different secret ingredients and using different types of cooking methods. With teamwork, creativity, and a kitchen stocked with supplies, can you come up with the perfect dish? At the end of the week, you’ll be a Camp Metro Iron Chef!

Kitchenistas

Grades 4-6 Sessions 2, 5 Fee $250

You’re the chef—own the kitchen! Grab your pots, whisks and measuring cups and have fun learning the art of cooking and planning great meals. Create mouthwatering appetizers, savory entrees and unravel the mystery of umami—the fifth taste. Take a trip to Whole foods to check out the bakery, produce, and cheese shops then try your hand at organic cooking. Create your own recipe book too. Be a Kitchenista!
