Registration for 2010 will open on February 1st! All program listings are current, so you don't need to wait for the brochure to check out everything happening in 2010!

Wood fairies have been spreading their magic deep in the forest at Camp Bothin. Take a hike to the fairy steps and you just might catch a glimpse of one! Hula hoop contests, dance parties, and parachute play await you at camp. Use your imagination and design your own set of fairy wings. Doodlebugs

Collages, painting, drawing, lanyards, friendship bracelets, and lots more! Create a giant self portrait, a nature print, and a hanging mobile. Spend some time letting your imagination wander in the Art Barn each day. Visit the new Stone House Studio and Gallery to see all of our artists’ masterpieces and create a display of your own. Everything you like to do at camp and more! Choose your favorite camp activities and try some new ones. Well, here it is…the program you’ve been asking for! Come to camp and just hang out with your friends. You will be totally in charge of deciding what activities you want to do. Express yourself! If you like to dance, sing, create art, or act, then this is where you want to be! From karaoke and comedy to painting and poetry, participate in activities that will allow you to experience many forms of self expression. This is your chance for YOU to be YOU!
Animal Lovers

Are you crazy about animals? Then it’s off on a safari adventure for you! Tour the Serengeti at Safari West and see amazing African animals. Perhaps you’ll meet a giraffe face to face! Get a visit from SaveABunny, a local rabbit rescue organization, and meet some hip “hop” friends. Learn about llamas and even rescue a seal at the Marine Mammal Center. Badge- Pet Care
Moonlight Magic

Discover Camp Bothin by moonlight! Take a flashlight hike and challenge your senses as you explore the sights and sounds of twilight. Create your own star filled sky and check out the wildlife of camp at night. Have an overnight under the moon and stars with your new friends. Bodyworks

Explore ways to let your inner beauty shine while pampering yourself at camp this week. Express yourself with a new hairstyle or makeover. Get a manicure and facial. Make lip gloss, perfume, and lotion from ecologically friendly ingredients. Accessorize with glass beaded jewelry that you design yourself. Go home feeling relaxed and refreshed! Skippers
| Grades 4-6 | Session 3 | Fee $550 |
Splash around in a kayak, paddle a canoe, or coast along in a sailboat at Lake Merritt Boating Center. Discover the fun of lots of different types of boating and decide which one is your favorite. Design and build your own miniature boat for the Bothin Regatta and boat race. At the end of the week we’ll take a special ferry trip to Angel Island for a picnic lunch and an up close look at all the boats on the San Francisco Bay! Badge – Small Craft
The Incredible Race

Race through camp and beyond on an amazing adventure, but watch out for detours! Teams of 4 to 6 racers will navigate a course of challenges in and out of camp where skill, knowledge, and teamwork get you ahead. Use different types of transportation and solve clues, riddles, puzzles and complete physical challenges to get to the next stop in the race. Will you be the master archer, the swimming champ, the camp song star? Be the first team to the finish line for the grand prize! Badge-Finding Your Way

Walk the runway wearing pants, shirts, skirts, dresses, and accessories you create when you explore the worlds of fashion art and costume design. From head to toe, or hat to shoe, learn how to put together the perfect outfit. Choose a garment to construct, from basic patterns and embellishing it to make it your own. Check out famous styles through time and from places around the world to decide which one makes you feel like a superstar! Badge - Art to Wear
Pottery Party

Discover clay art! Making pottery and sculptures is easy and fun so get ready to get your hands dirty. Use the pottery wheels and kilns at camp to create your very own pots or other projects. Sculpt and carve with special tools. Your work will be shown at the new Stone House Studio and Gallery for the whole camp to admire! Badge – Ceramics and Clay
Artisans

Painting, sculpting, sketching, and many other art mediums will fill this imaginative week at camp. Recreate a famous masterpiece, or just use one as inspiration for your own self expression. Take a trip to the de Young Museum in San Francisco to meet the Artist-in-Residence. The new Stone House Studio and Gallery will serve as perfect place to create and show your work. Colossal Creations

Larger than life, your mega-art will take over Bothin! From recycled materials, you'll create gigantic sculptures to amaze and impress. Build, drill, bolt, paint, and pound your magnificent piece to be shown in the outdoor exhibit at the new Stone House Studio and Gallery. Work with your group to also create an incredible colossal mural for the studio wall. The unveiling will be an event to remember! Badge- Outdoor Creativity
The Next Bothin Food Star!

Now's your chance to show off those cooking skills as we search for our newest food celebrity. Spend time before the contest perfecting your own signature recipe. Practice your prep and get ready for the camera. We'll make a video for the judges and narrow it down to the final round of chefs. The finalists will participate in a cook-off for a live audience to determine the Next Bothin Food Star! Badge- Let's Get Cooking
Pastry Puffs

A spoonful of sugar, a dash of friendship and a cup of laughter are the ingredients for a delicious week at camp! Get the basics of baking then make scrumptious snacks or yummy dessert. Decorate cupcakes, make chocolate wontons or empanadas. Design and build a gingerbread house to display for the whole camp. After everyone’s seen it, you can eat it! Culinary Creators

Calling all chefs! Come explore the world of cooking. Meet professional culinary artists. Cook a five course meal for another group at camp. Discover what goes into running a restaurant and make foods from all over the world. Take a trip to the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. Interest Project – Creative Cooking
Inside, Outside, Upside-down Cake

How many delectable dishes can you cook? Get creative with food in the kitchen and over the campfire as we simmer and saute our way through a menu of fun. Can you come up with a lunch using only foods that start with the letter "b"? How about a breakfast cooked in a box? challenge your imagination along with your taste buds. Experiment with organic cooking. Use ingredients, and all your senses, to explore food like never before. Badge- Food Power
Drama Queens

It’s great to be a Drama Queen! Create a play with your group. Learn about writing a script, casting and acting. You’ll explore stage makeup, costuming and all that goes into putting on an award winning performance. From props to backdrops, discover all the intricacies of theater arts. Center Stage

It’s show time! Find out what it’s like to be front and center. We know you’ve got talent so get ready to shine. Get advice on improvisation or rehearse your favorite performance. From monologues and comedy acts to dance routines, singing and more. Work up a solo act or a small group set. Put it all together and impress the whole camp with your grand production. Off Broadway
| Grades 6-12 | Session 5 | Fee $595 |
Immerse yourself in the world of performance art! Learn or improve your skills in acting, singing, dancing, improvisation, make-up or technical support. Attend a theatrical performance in Santa Cruz and learn more about professional stage work. Participate in daily rehearsals, design sets and create costumes. Then put on a musical production at the end of your session. Parents and friends are welcome to attend and can join you for a special “cast party” following the performance. Just hear that applause! Dance Crew

Sassy beats and funky style inspire your steps. Explore different types of music and dance from Salsa to Hip Hop, country to pop and even African dance movement. Together with your whole group, you will choreograph an amazing show to share with the rest of the camp. You'll be the inspiration for everyone to get up and groove! Badge- Dance
Girls Just Want To Have Fun!
| Grades 2-12 | Session 7 | Fee $125 |
Hey girls! Bring your mom, sister, aunt or other special female adult and come to Bothin for a weekend of summer fun. Enjoy activities led by camp staff while spending quality time together when Bothin transforms into a special retreat just for you! Swimming, dancing, sunrise yoga, arts and crafts, campfires, facials you make with natural ingredients, foot baths, hiking, and special themed events are waiting for you. And don't forget the special Wishing Tree Ceremony at the end of the weekend. It's a camp tradition you won't want to miss! Adults must be a t least 18 years old. One adult may accompany up to two girls.
